The emergence of Battle Royale has brought quite a storm to the online gaming arena. This has created a lot of die-hard fans for the genre in many platforms like PC and Consoles like the Sony PlayStation 4 or the Microsoft Xbox One. With just a month left to conclude the year, said fans seem to be left worried and uneasy while awaiting a new release for their favorite multiplayer shooter – Apex Legends.
Mobile gamers have not been left behind, however, as PUBG Mobile – one early bird in the Battle Royale Genre – has over 16 million active users in India alone. For a while its rival – Apex Legends – has been eyeing this huge opportunity to bring its story-filled, action-packed and immersive online shooter to target the ever-growing market of mobile gamers. Though still in beta stage, Apex Legends has created much hype through cool snippets of what we can expect from the game, as well as through leaks submitted by the lucky beta players.

When is it scheduled for a Global release?
The release date for Apex Legends Mobile is still under speculation, but a good estimate puts it early in the first quarter of 2022. Currently, though, the game is still in the soft launch phase where developers remove bugs in the game and gather valuable information and insights from the players before giving the heads-up for its global release. This will also allow game developers to streamline and smoothen gameplay for mobile players when it’s been finally released for the mass.
Compatible devices?
So far, it has been officially confirmed that Apex Legends Mobile will be optimized for play in Android devices with Android 9 – Pie – and above, and for iOS v14 in Apple devices. During the global release, however, developers have noted that the online multiplayer will be initially released to Android users only.
How will the gameplay be?
The mobile version of the popular franchise will carry inspiration from the main version, as well as adding unique spinoffs of its own. This will include but not limited to new game modes like team death match, exclusive skins, new perks to playable characters – legends and many others. Like other popular battle royales on the mobile platform, the game will be free but will also include in-game purchasable items like cosmetics, heirlooms et cetera.
Will it allow for cross-play?
Apex Legends Mobile gamers won't be able to have a cross-play experience with their counterparts from PCs and Consoles due to a number of factors. The major being that the mobile version of the game is particularly geared towards a streamlined mobile gameplay experience, which would be immensely overcome by the very accurate and precision control and movement offered, especially in PC. The latter reason being, the game will have dedicated, and exclusive features offered to mobile gamers only.
Who is developing it?
So far, three influential and popular brands are overseeing its development; Respawn Entertainment – the Original founders overseeing the whole process–, Tencent, who have the most experience in developing mobile games, especially Battle Royales like PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile, and Electronic Arts who are mainly involved with the marketing of the game.
