Apex Legends (Season 11) : Why Does Matchmaking Take So Long?

From fast passed gameplay, instant knockout to lock and load, rinse, repeat. Apex legends players are always ready to hop back into their intense gameplay. With apex legends having the largest player fan base currently there are always millions of players ready to hop into the battle  island.

The current state of apex legends is breathtaking with having a smooth player to player interaction and  player to legends interaction players are always ready to play apex legends. But a consistent issue is always the matchmaking time for every game mode in apex legends. Apex legends matchmaking duration can range from 30 seconds to 20 minutes maximum atimes it might take longer. In this post we are going to address the reasons why matchmaking take so long and state how it can be reduced or bypassed.

Why Does Matchmaking Take Long?

With respawn entertainment expanding apex legends player base making it cross-platform between nintendo switch, playstation and PC players there would be a need to properly coordinate the player base to suit all platforms. This lead to the introduction of Engagement Optimized Matchmaking (EOMM), this is very important factor of the matchmaking system which aims to balance the players skill level ranging from very skilled to less skilled players.
Apex Legends being a highly competitive games leverage skill based matchmaking which is intended to promote fairness in all matches this prevents unskilled players from the wraith of professional players and ensures that the game is enjoyable to players in all category.
With the introduction of the optimized matchmaking system it makes the game balanced and enjoyable, this is a win-win situations  as it retains beginner players and allows other skilled players to me matched with players at their skill level making everyone to enjoy the game.

How To Reduce Apex Legends Matchmaking Time?

Where players won't have that much control on the matchmaking time there are still little things that can be done to get paired up with other players quickly. The ways in reducing matchmaking time are listed;

1. Have A Strong Internet Connection

We would say this is more of a known factor but we realized that atimes apex legends tends to glitch on internet connections that aren't up to par, and as a result your matchmaking might take forever or might get paired after a while. After several trial and errors we suggest having an internet connection that runs at 7.5Mbps on an average and would be able to give you a ping <250ms, with this your match making time would be reduces drastically.

2. Invite Friends To Your Party

We think apex legends is a game that rewards you by playing with friends that's on a side note. Having a full party would actually reduce your matchmaking time, as the matchmaking system would only look for potential enemies for you to be paired with. By having a party of friends around your skill level, your team would have a better chance of getting paired compared to a player without teammates. That's why most atimes when you join a match people are always playing with their friends.

3. Play At High Traffic Times

Playing at high traffic times involves hopping on when alot of players are in the game. Well this might be a little challenging as we have different time zones and everyone can't be free at the same time. But in this post we will list all the possible high traffic times. From all our trials we found out that during weekdays majority of players come on between 6pm - 2am WAT.  But during the weekend is actually better, majority of players come on between 9am - 2pm WAT and 6pm - 4am WAT, this are the best periods to play apex legends to reduce the matchmaking times.

With the above we believe you would be able to hop into your favourite game modes using your best legends to dominate the arenas. We are wishing you an awesome gaming session and a happy new year.
